In recent years, the escalating requirements for air conditioning and ventilation systems in factories, warehouses, processing workshops, supermarkets, and other large-scale buildings have posed significant challenges to traditional central air conditioning systems. The conventional setups often fall short of meeting the demands of vast usage areas, dense cargo stacking, limited equipment footprint, and the dispersed nature of usage times and regions.

 

To address these challenges, tall space air conditioning systems have emerged as a viable solution. These systems draw fresh air from the exterior of the building (such as factories and warehouses) to enhance ventilation within the designated area. Additionally, they capture air from the upper regions of the building, condition it through heat exchangers for heating or cooling, and then vertically distribute it into the working space. The diffusion area of the air outflow can be adjusted automatically or manually, providing greater flexibility.

The Runpower PLC-based monitoring system for tall space air conditioning, encompassing air conditioning units, ventilation systems, and terminal fans, represents a typical application of distributed control systems, offering flexibility and convenience. This system combines regional control with centralized control to achieve diverse functionalities, leveraging wireless radio frequency (or wireless WIFI networking, wired networks, etc.) for remote communication and coordinated device control.

 

The Runpower PLC-based tall space air conditioning system comprises two primary components. The first part is the standalone unit control system, which utilizes distributed IO modules to regulate individual units. This allows for local control, unit protection, and the collection of unit operational status and regional environmental parameters. The second part is the centralized monitoring system, where the PLC communicates with the standalone unit control systems via wireless radio frequency (or wireless WIFI, Ethernet, serial ports, etc.). Through intelligent algorithms, it enables precise management and remote control of each unit.

This system enables the following functionalities:

1) Automatic start-stop adjustment of units based on collected work area temperature.

2) Manual and seasonal mode adjustments of air outlet angles based on installation height, ensuring a comfortable airflow and stable temperature in the work area.

3) Manual or automatic switching between cooling, heating, and fresh air modes.

4) Timed automatic power on/off functionality.

5) Setting different target temperatures for various time periods.

6) Programming automatic shutdown and startup during holidays.

7) Detection of equipment operational status and automatic fault protection for units.

8) Automatic recovery upon power loss.

This comprehensive monitoring system ensures efficient and reliable operation of the tall space air conditioning units, meeting the diverse needs of modern facilities.

(1) The installation location of the units is designed to be in the overhead space, minimizing the occupied area.

 

(2) The equipment boasts a low failure rate, ensuring that the malfunction of a single unit does not hinder the operation of other units.

 

(3) The use of wireless communication methods effectively reduces the cost of on-site wiring, simplifying the installation process.

PLC System Features

(4) The distributed control approach allows for flexible and convenient debugging. It enables the system to be easily grouped into regions based on site conditions, facilitating the establishment of multiple regional control centers. This approach also simplifies the standardized management of control programs and strategies.

 

(5) The system incorporates PID algorithms and other regulatory mechanisms to adjust outlet airflow rates and damper angles, ensuring stable and comfortable temperatures within designated areas.
